Sanjay Singh is a Managing Committee Member of PAFI and Advisor, Tata Sons.
He has served the Tata Group over 35 years. He joined Tata Steel as Management Trainee in 1978 and held positions in diverse areas of the Steel Company’s operations. Starting his career within the steel works, he went on to head Corporate Communication for Tata Steel, a position he held for over 10 years. During his tenure as the Chief of Corporate Communications, Tata Steel pushed through its path breaking change management programme and became the least cost producer steel in the world. Corporate communications played a vital role in keeping the stake holders engaged through the change process.
Sanjay moved to New Delhi in 2002 as the Chief Resident Representative for Tata Steel, a role which moved away from communications to Government relations & public affairs. In 2004, he was appointed Vice President – Public Affairs in Tata Services. He is primarily responsible for engaging the Tata groups key stake holders in New Delhi — Parliament and Ministries, think-tank’s and policy advisors, the business and industry associations, besides the international business community. He has also taken the lead role in organizing the Tata Groups defence companies at the Aero India and the defence exhibitions in the last few years. Sanjay has a Master’s in Business Administration and has been trained at INSEAD France. He is a keen observer of policy trends globally and in India.
