The PAFI Gig Council aims to spearhead comprehensive discussions concerning critical issues within the gig economy domain. This platform brings together key stakeholders from industry, think tanks and experts to deliberate on enabling social security for gig workers in a meaningful, balanced, and equitable manner.
The gig economy in India empowers workers with flexibility, autonomy, and opportunities for supplemental income, serving as a financial safety net during uncertainties like the COVID-19 pandemic. By fostering digitization and formalizing work arrangements, it enhances access to banking, credit, and taxation systems, contributing to economic growth. Despite lacking traditional employee benefits, it drives occupational mobility, wage stability, and inclusive growth, enabling individuals to leverage their skills for diverse opportunities across
sectors.
The PAFI Gig Council seeks to serve as a trusted intermediary between the government and
industry, fostering dialogue and collaboration on critical policy issues. By building trust and credibility, the council contributes to progressive, well-informed policymaking. Its engagements are facilitated through key PAFI initiatives, including council meetings and PAFI Dialogues.
Sanjay Chadha is the Chairperson of the PAFI Gig Council, Managing Committee Member,
