Ishteyaque Amjad is the Managing Director – Policy & Government Affairs, Abbott India and South Asia. He joined Abbott in June 2022. Ishteyaque is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with governments, industry forums, multilateral agencies, and other key stakeholders. He leads the Policy Advocacy and manages Geopolitics/ Geoeconomics and supports Market Access for Abbott in South Asia.
Ishteyaque joined Abbott from Godrej Group, an Indian multinational conglomerate, Prior to Godrej, he worked for Coca-Cola India and South West Asia as Vice President Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability. He started his professional career in the Indian Army and worked for Cargill, with roles in India and in Singapore, and had stints with Essar Group, HCL and Orfilame.
He is a Postgraduate from the Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies in Pune and a Bachelor of Economics from Aligarh Muslim University. He also is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Military Academy.
Ishteyaque is the past President of and currently serves on the Management and Steering Committees of Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI). He serves on the Advisory Board of the US India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) and currently leads the ASSOCHAM National Healthcare Committee. He has been a member of a National Committees in the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). He has led the Food and Agriculture committees of US-ASEAN Business Council. He serves on the Advisory Board of AIESEC India and previously served as a member of the Board of Management of TERI School of Advanced Studies.
His interests include reading, poetry, sports, and current affairs. He is married and has two sons.
