Himar Arjun Singh is Chief of Public Policy & Corporate Communications at Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s leading business groups with diversified interests in Telecom Services, Digital Infrastructure & Devices, Space Communications, Financial Services, Processed Foods, Real Estate and Hospitality.
He is a seasoned Public Policy professional with experience spanning two decades in areas encompassing advocacy, corporate affairs and communications. He has worked in various capacities: as a Journalist, an Economist, with Industry Associations such as CII and FICCI, Government Ministries & Agencies and the Indian Corporate Sector. Himar was instrumental in establishing the Public Policy function at Bharti Enterprises and Reliance Retail Limited.
Having worked across geographies - India, South Asia, Europe and Africa in sectors such as digital economy & infrastructure, agriculture, retail & e-commerce and macroeconomics, he has led extensive policy engagements with the WTO, WEF, Broadband Commission, CEIP, CFR, RIEC, ICC, GSMA, Monetary Authority of Singapore among others. Himar also served as the B-20 Sherpa at G-20 China in 2016; G-20 Germany in 2017 and G-20 Argentina in 2018.
Himar played a key role in setting up Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) across all States in India and capacity building of multiple stakeholders. He has authored many critical research pieces and articles published by Outlook Business and Asia Times. His research on Manufacturing in China helped DIPP understand the Chinese model of manufacturing with state subsidies. Similarly, his notable piece on Central Asia and the geo-political influence of Russia and China in the region has been cited in many subsequent research papers.
He is a keen follower of strategic affairs, international trade and geonomics. He is deeply committed to the cause of preserving the environment and ecology in the Himalayas and is associated with many Self Help Groups to drive this.
Himar is married to Dr. Susheela Negi, an imminent Scientist leading Climate Change at the Ministry of Science & Technology and they have 2 children – a son and a daughter. Himar is an alumnus of Bishop Cotton School, Shimla; Himachal Pradesh University and Fudan University, Shanghai.
